Justin Theroux to star in Apple TV+'s Mosquito Coast, based on his uncle's novel

Luther creator Neil Cross will serve as showrunner of the TV series adaptation of the 1981 Paul Theroux novel The Mosquito Coast that was turned into a 1986 movie starring Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren and River Phoenix. Justin Theroux, who previously starred on HBO's The Leftovers and Netflix's Maniac, is Paul Theroux's nephew. Mosquito Coast is about an idealist who uproots his family to Latin America. Cross wrote the first episode with writer Tom Bissell. Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt will direct the first episode and serve as executive producer.
