Hulu boss: The audience wasn't there for Sarah Silverman's I Love You, America and Sean Penn's The First

"I think the show grew creatively between season 1 and season 2. It didn’t acquire a large enough audience despite the critical acclaim," said Craig Erwich, Hulu's vice president of originals, of Silverman's show at the TV press tour. He made a similar comment about The First, from House of Cards creator Beau Willimon. "Unfortunately, the audience did not materialize," Erwich said. ALSO: Erwich admits The First "took a while to reveal itself."
