Disenchantment would've worked better if it had more key female characters

Matt Groening said he wanted his Netflix medieval animated series to have a "feminist bent." But having the show star Abbi Jacobson and Sharon Horgan while surrounded by male characters isn't sufficient to fulfilling Groening's goal, says Princess Weekes. "In season two," she says, "I hope they bring in a more balanced collection of male and female writers and really start crafting out a story for Bean where she can be pro-active and interesting as an anti-hero, instead of just being a collection of bland 'cool girl tropes."
