Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins, who earned an Emmy nomination last year, dies at 90

Collins piloted the spacecraft that enabled Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin's historic moon landing in July 1969. Collins never got to set foot the moon, however. In fact, Apollo 11 marked his final space mission. The 50th anniversary of the moon landing in 2019 led to a number of documentaries, including CNN Films' Apollo 11. Last year, the Primetime Emmys nominated Collins and Aldrin for Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program for the Apollo 11 documentary.
