Angry protesters violently attack the CNN Center in Atlanta

The cable news network was the target Friday night of the nationwide police brutality protests sparked by the officer-involved killing of George Floyd on Monday. "A largely peaceful demonstration erupted first in vandalism, then in violence. Cops used pepper spray, and then some in the crowd were seen smashing windows and defacing the giant CNN sign with spray-paint," reports Pilar Melendez. "Down the street, a police car was set ablaze. Protesters lobbed objects at the windows and into the lobby, and at least one officer was struck. What appeared to be a flash-bang device landed in front of police and large gusts of smoke went up into the air." CNN’s Nick Valencia covered the chaos in CNN's lobby, yelling "sh*t" at one point when a protesters lobbed what appeared to be a firecracker at police officers guarding the building. “Security’s telling us to go… We’re getting out of here," he said.
