Alicia Keys teams with La La Land vets on a Showtime musical drama series

Showtime has given a sizeable series commitment to the untitled musical drama that Keys is executive producing along with the Oscar-, Tony- and Grammy-winning La La Land team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The SpongeBob Musical's Kyle Jarrow will write the series, while Pasek and Paul will contribute music. The Hollywood Reporter reports: "The project traverses generations to tell an emotionally complex family story that interweaves modern-day and 1959 Detroit and centers on a mystery uncovered by a young musician who moves back to her childhood home. It's unclear if Keys will have an on-screen role."
