A Fresh Off the Boat spinoff is one step closer to reality with the casting of Indian comedian Vir Das

Whiskey Cavalier alum Das, who starred in his own Netflix special in 2017, could end up leading ABC's proposed spinoff of Fresh Off the Boat. An episode filming next month will feature Das and Indian actress Preity G. Zinta as parents whose daughter goes to school with Eddie Huang. The episode could lead to a spinoff, according to Variety, but it won't be considered a backdoor pilot. A pilot would still be shot during pilot season.
