Sullivan's Crossing season 2 was added to Netflix earlier this month. The sophomore season took viewers on an emotional journey with varying highs and lows. On one hand, Maggie made a big decision about her career and love life for the best. On the other hand, her father, Sully, finds himself in financial and health-related issues that threaten his well-being more often than not.

Disclaimer: The following article contains major spoilers for Sullivan's Crossing season 2. Readers' discretion is advised.

Sullivan's Crossing 2 ended with a major cliffhanger, which left everyone in distress about Sully's life. A pot in Rob's diner catches fire and before anything can be done to put it off, the entire diner is set ablaze. While everyone is watching the diner burn in horror, some realize that Finn and Clover are still inside.

Cal and Sully rush in to save the kids. Although Cal emerges out of the flames with the kids in his arms, Sully is nowhere to be seen. Rafe attempts to go in to bring Sully back to safety when the firefighters arrive, but he fails. As Cal does his best to restrain Maggie from going into the burning diner, the place explodes. Maggie keeps screaming as she collapses into Cal's arms. Whether or not Sully survives this haunting tragedy remains to be seen in season 3.

Maggie makes some big decisions in Sullivan's Crossing season 2

When Maggie arrived at Sullivan's Crossing in the first season, her career as a neurosurgeon was in jeopardy in Boston, and she had a boyfriend named Andrew. Her return to Timberlake gave her the opportunity to reconnect with the people she left behind, including her father and childhood best friend. At the same time, she also connects with Cal, a local man from Timberlake.

In season 1, Cal and Maggie appeared to have caught feelings for each other. All of that comes to a head in Sullivan's Crossing season 2, as Maggie decides that she is going to stay in Timberlake. She also confesses her love to Cal, who responds that he has loved her since they first met.

Maggie tells Cal that she belongs in Sullivan's Crossing with him, which resonates with what she had told her father earlier in the episode. Maggie has evolved significantly since season 1, and it is evident in how she reassures Sully that she loves him despite his past mistakes.

While Maggie and Cal have now admitted their feelings for each other, things can still go wrong between the two because Cal is still determined not to have kids. Maggie is pregnant with Andrew's child, and her new lover is blissfully unaware of this. Unless Cal changes his mind about kids, his relationship with Maggie might face a roadblock soon.

Sully almost loses Sullivan's Crossing due to his mounting financial issues

Sully's money struggles have been evident throughout Sullivan's Crossing. However, the true reason behind them only becomes clear in Sullivan's Crossing season 2 finale. Sully does not lose money due to bad habits like gambling or any other such thing. Instead, he loses money because he is too generous.

Not only does Sully take in Lola and her mother after the former's accident, which he feels responsible for, but also provides financial aid to anyone in need in Timberlake or waives off payment for those who are struggling. These actions affect his own financial standing adversely.

Consequently, in Sullivan's Crossing season 2, Sully finds himself behind on payments and has no choice but to ask the bank for an extension on his loan. However, before he can file the paperwork for the same, he falls gravely ill and ends up hospitalized, due to his high alcohol consumption.

The bank puts up the Crossing for auction, and a greedy real estate developer, Glenn, is more than ready to buy it. Luckily, Maggie's speech and a cleverly timed delay default the Crossing's sale back to Sully and Maggie.

The town comes through and donates money to help Sully win the Crossing back. This heartfelt moment proves that all the good Sully had done found a way back to him when he needed it most.
