A scene from The Glided Age season 4 (Image via YouTube/@hbomax)The Gilded Age, a period drama created by Julian Fellowes, has been given a Season 4 renewal by HBO. The network announced on July 28, 2025, weeks ahead of the August 10, 2025, final episode release date of Season 3.
A co-production between HBO and Universal Television, the show has become a word-of-mouth sensation featuring a strong ensemble cast drawn from the New York theater community. Episode 5 of The Gilded Age season 3 attracted a new series high of 4 million viewers across platforms in the United States, continuing a five-week trend of increasing premiere-night viewing. Alongside it, weekly viewership of The Gilded Age on HBO Max is up by 20% per season.
As per Deadline, Francesca Orsi, EVP, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, shared in a statement:
“We couldn’t be prouder of the undeniable viewership heights The Gilded Age has achieved this season. Transporting us to 1880s New York City, Julian Fellowes and the enormously talented cast and crew have created a ‘cant-miss it’ entertainment experience from week to week, and we’re delighted to continue exploring these characters’ grand ambitions for what we promise will be a thrilling fourth season.”

The story thus far in The Gilded Age Season 3
Ada (Cynthia Nixon), who inherited a fortune when Agnes (Christine Baranski) was struggling, has assumed the role of leader of the home. Since their daughter Gladys (Taissa Farmiga) is being married off to the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb), Bertha (Carrie Coon) and George (Morgan Spector) are at odds, and drama is developing in the Russell home.
While Jack (Ben Ahlers) has become wealthy after selling his clock invention, Peggy (Denée Benton) has been seeing Dr. Kirkland (Jordan Donica), and Larry (Harry Richardson) and Marian (Louisa Jacobson) have made significant progress in their relationship with their engagement.
The secret lover of Oscar (Blake Ritson), John Adams (Claybourne Elder), was killed by a carriage on the street in the July 27 episode, causing sadness to envelop the New York City community.

The Gilded Age season 3 is available online concurrently with its weekly HBO broadcast on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET. To stream all seasons of the show in the US, viewers must have access to HBO Max.
