Former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett discussed his short-lived 2012-13 sitcom starring Josh Gad, Bill Pullman and Jenna Elfman while promoting his new Pod Save America HBO special. Lovett, who co-created 1600 Penn, said critics called the characters "too zany" and unbelievable. “In hindsight, we did not realize it should have been a dark moody drama on HBO,” he joked.
