Ukraine lashes out at Emily in Paris over "unacceptable" stereotype of a Ukrainian woman

“We have a caricature image of a Ukrainian woman that is unacceptable. It is also insulting. Is that how Ukrainians are seen abroad?” Ukraine’s culture minister Oleksandr Tkachenko wrote in a Telegram post directed at Netflix. The Guardian reports that in Season 2, actress Daria Panchenko portrays Petra, "a Ukrainian woman who is terrified of being deported in the show, shoplifts while on a shopping spree with Emily and has bad fashion sense – the ultimate faux pas in this appearance-obsessed world."
