Tom Brokaw apologizes for his offensive remarks about Latinos

The former NBC News anchor commented about Latinos on Meet the Press, saying they should "work harder at assimilation," adding: “Also, I hear, when I push people a little harder, ‘Well, I don’t know whether I want brown grandbabies.’ I mean, that’s also a part of it. It’s the intermarriage that is going on and the cultures that are conflicting with each other.”  In a series of tweets, Brokaw said he was "truly sorry." In response, U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego of Arizona, an Iraq War veteran, tweeted: "I assimilated pretty well," accompanied by a picture of him with fellow Marines.
