Study: Streaming shows have "substantially more" female protagonists than broadcast and cable

The Study of Women in Television and Film found that 42% of streaming shows were told from the female perspective, compared to 27% on cable and 24% on broadcast TV. In streaming, viewers are as likely to encounter a female-led show as a male-led show, which also comprised 42% of streaming shows. About 16% of streaming shows were considered ensembles.
