Study: Females are making widespread gains in front of and behind the camera

A new Boxed In report from San Diego State University's Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film found that the number of major female characters has risen to 45% after being mired in the low 40s for the past several years. The report also found women represented 31% of behind-the-scenes workers, the highest share recorded in the 22-year history of the study.
