She's Gotta Have It writer responds to John Boyega calling the show "trash" for saying black British actors are "cheap"

The Star Wars actor helped make a Season 2 scene go viral in the black community by calling the show "trash" for showing a disparaging conversation about black British actors playing black American roles. Barry Michael Cooper, who wrote the episode, has followed up with an open letter to Boyega saying: "Mr. Boyega, a 'Spike Lee Joint' is meant to get folks talking. Even if we agree to disagree." Cooper also emphasized that Spike Lee did not write the episode.
