SMILF's Frankie Shaw says Roseanne Barr almost played her mother, instead of Rosie O'Donnell

“It’s been a secret until this moment," the creator and star of the Showtime series revealed at an Emmys For Your Consideration event for her show. “We did offer Tutu to Roseanne, and she was going to do it and then she broke her knee and had surgery.” Shaw recalls telling Roseanne, "You’re my hero, will you play my mom?" Even after Roseanne suffered her injury, Shaw offered to re-write the character so she's in a scooter.
