Ryan Murphy's Netflix documentary Circus of Books tells the story of a straight couple and their iconic gay porn store

The Murphy-produced documentary tells the story of Karen and Barry Mason, a straight religious couple who kept their former West Hollywood porn shop business Circle of Books a secret from friends and family and their children. But over the course of nearly four decades, the porn shop, which closed last year, gave members of the LGBT+ community space to socialize and celebrate themselves without judgment. The documentary, directed by the Masons' daughter Rachel Mason, premieres April 22.
