Real World: New Orleans alum Danny Roberts reveals he is HIV positive

Roberts' appearance on the 2000 edition of The Real World was notable for showing him in a same-sex relationship with an officer in the military, leading MTV to obscure the officer's face due to the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. Now 41, Danny is a father to a 2 1/2 year-old girl and he's living with HIV. “The reason I want to share this story is that I spent so long battling and beating myself up for my own misconceptions and bigotry,” he tells EW. “It is difficult to admit the negative feelings you had about a set of people and state of being based on made-up stories.”
