Lythgoe, who was executive producer of Fox's Idol from 2002 to 2008, tweeted that "The American Idol singers this season are incredible. They are diverse and come in all different shapes and sizes but are united in having a God given talent at an outstanding level. Congratulations to the @AmericanIdol team and @ABC for having the faith to keep this show alive."
