Matthews was reprimanded for his inappropriate jokes and comments at a female assistant producer, NBC confirmed after the conservative website The Daily Caller reported the story. The Daily Caller said NBC paid $40,000 as part of a separation-related settlement — a figure that an MSNBC spokesman disputed. As Michael Calderone notes, Matthews is the sixth person with ties to NBC News connected to inappropriate behavior, joining Matt Lauer, Lauer’s former Today booker Matt Zimmerman, Mark Halperin and contributors Harold Ford Jr. and Glenn Thrush.
