Michael Smith is leaving SportsCenter's SC6 five weeks after Jemele Hill

Smith's departure today will mark the end of the controversial SC6 experiment after 13 months. Smith and Hill, the then-hosts of the sports discussion show His & Hers, were brought in on Jan 30, 2017 to shake up the staid SportsCenter format with "personalities" in the 6 p.m. hour. That didn't play well with SportsCenter's traditional viewers, who wanted a traditional sportscast.
