MTV Movie & TV Awards to return live, adds a second night celebrating reality TV

The 2021 MTV awards show celebrating movies and television will air live from Los Angeles on Sunday, May 16. The following night, MTV will air the inaugural Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted, what the cable network describes as "the first-ever ceremony celebrating all things reality TV. That’s right, the network that gave the world everything from the inclusive dating show Are You the One? to, well, Snooki will recap the messiest, most drama-filled moments ever to hit the screen. Break out the Earl Grey because this tea is scalding!" The MTV Movie & TV Awards are returning live after last year's ceremony was scrapped due to the pandemic. Instead, Vanessa Hudgens hosted a one-off special MTV Movie & TV Awards: Greatest of All Time on Dec. 6, highlighting the greatest moments from movies and TV since the 1980s, as well as highlights from past ceremonies.
