The longtime Saturday Night Live cast member explained to Seth Meyers what happened when Kanye West went on a pro-Trump rant after the show. “We’re all entitled to our own opinion — I don’t know if that’s the moment, necessarily, to hold people hostage like that,” he said on Late Night. “But hey, you know.” As for losing the best supporting actor in a comedy Emmy to Henry Winkler of Barry, Thompson said he was okay with it because the former Happy Days star was “a sweet little old Jewish gumdrop" who had waited 42 years for the award. Besides, Thompson won an Emmy for co-writing "Come Back Barack" for SNL.
