Jim Parsons recalls he "had this moment of clarity" that led to his decision to leave The Big Bang Theory

Parsons said on David Tennant's podcast that the summer of 2018 really cemented his decision to leave the show. It was the summer that his beloved dog died. He was also performing on Broadway in The Boys in the Band when he broke his foot. "The bottom line was that it was a really intense summer," he said. "The dog passing away, he was 14, and Todd and I had been together for 15 years at that point, so it just was the end of an era."
