Jerry Springer sued by the family of a former guest who committed suicide after appearing on the show

Springer and NBC Universal, which produced The Jerry Springer Show, are being blamed for former guest Blake Alvey’s death. Alvey was ambushed by his then-fiancé during a May 2018 taping, and told she had been unfaithful. The next month, Alvey committed suicide. In the lawsuit, Alvey's family blames NBC Universal and Springer for causing “extreme emotional distress” with their “negligent and intentional acts."
