Hulu lands Sean Penn’s first TV series: a space drama from House of Cards creator

The two-time best actor Oscar winner is the latest movie star to sign on to his first TV series regular role, starring in Beau Willimon’s The First. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the eight-episode series is “set in the near future and explores the first human mission to Mars and interplanetary colonization. The eight-episode drama focuses not only on the astronauts but also on their families and loved ones, as well as the ground team on Earth. Details about Penn's character are being kept under wraps.”
