How The Vietnam War took the overplayed music of the ‘60s and made it feel fresh again

  • “On one hand, we wanted some of the most iconic music, and we felt we almost had to have it to tell the story, but at the same we wanted to avoid any possible clichés, because so much of the music has been used in almost every Hollywood movie about Vietnam,” says co-director Lynn Novick. “But if you're doing the story of the Vietnam War, there are just some songs you can’t leave out.
