How Lizzy Caplan changed her voice to play Misery's Annie Wilkes on Castle Rock

"I knew that I didn’t want my portrayal of Annie Wilkes to sound like me," she tells Vulture of her pitched-up voice on the Hulu Stephen King anthology series. "That was the jumping-off point. I also knew that I ideally wanted to have some shades of what Kathy Bates did in the movie Misery, so that one could feasibly believe that our Annie could become that Annie. But I also didn’t want to do a straight-up impression, which I don’t even think I’d be able to do, and would probably be a bit of a cop-out."
