HBO's Baby God documentary was inspired by LL Cool J's appearance on Finding Your Roots

Director Hannah Olson decided to make the documentary premiering Wednesday on Nevada fertility Dr. Quincy Fortier, who impregnated women with his own sperm, after working on the PBS' Finding Your Roots. She recalled filming an episode with LL Cool J, who learned that the man he called grandfather wasn't his biological grandfather. “I started to wonder what that might feel like for a person,” she said. “Midway through life, to realize that the man who raised you or who you thought was your father is actually not your biological father. And then, does it matter?"
