HBO orders The Last of Us video game adaptation from Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin

Mazin and the PlayStation video game's creator Neil Druckmann will write and executive produce The Last of Us, a TV adaptation of the hit action adventure video game that was announced in March. Mazin will reteam with Chernobyl and Game of Thrones executive producer Carolyn Strauss on the series. The Last of Us is described as taking "place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival."
