Gugu Mbatha-Raw to headline BBC's The Girl Before, which is expected to air on HBO Max

The Morning Show star will lead the TV adaptation of JP Delaney's 2016 thriller novel that has sold more than a million copies worldwide. HBO Max is the frontrunner to show the BBC series in the U.S. "The Girl Before follows Jane (Mbatha-Raw), a traumatized woman who falls in love with an extraordinary minimalist house, which remains under the spell of the architect who originally designed it," per Deadline. "But when she discovers that another damaged woman died in the same One Folgate Street property three years earlier, she starts to wonder if her own story is just a rerun of the girl before." Delaney is co-writing the series with Marissa Lestrade.
