Gary Oldman binge-watched The Crown and was shocked to see Darkest Hour co-star Stephen Dillane working with another Winston Churchill

“I went, ‘That’s Stephen Dillane! In a scene! With Churchill!'" said Oldman, who plays Churchill in the new film Darkest Hour. "So I wrote to Stephen and I said, ‘you are a gentleman, because you never ever mentioned or gave away the fact that you worked with another Churchill,'” Oldman said. “And he wrote back, ‘I only work with Churchills.'” Oldman admits he exchanged notes with his John Lithgow, his Churchill counterpart.
