Freeform’s Alone Together is “the latest in an awfully long line of autobiographical comedies about comedy”

The comedy starring comedians/friends Esther Povitsky and Benji Aflalo as versions of themselves is problematic, says Margaret Lyons, because it “embodies some of the genre’s major misconceptions: that comics make good actors, that stand-up comedy is somehow inherently interesting or virtuous, that only comics experience youthful ennui.” ALSO: Alone Together seems to celebrate all the negative stereotypes surrounding millennials.
