Fox makes This Country its first series pickup of the 2021-22 season

The network has given a 14-episode series order to the remake of the BBC3 mockumentary series from writer Jenny Bicks and director Paul Feig. The self-described "docu-com" follows cousins Kelly (newcomer Chelsea Holmes) and Shrub Mallet (The Kids Are Alright alum Sam Straley) as a documentary crew captures them and their idiosyncratic small-town surroundings. Seann William Scott and Aya Cash also star. According to Deadline's Peter White, "one day’s worth of footage was filmed before production was halted by COVID-19 back in March, and the series commitment was made on the strength of that material and subsequent scripts, rather than a traditional full pilot."
