James Clavell's 1975 novel, set in feudal Japan, has been ordered a 10-episode limited series as FX's largest international production to date. Shōgun aired as an NBC miniseries in 1980. “The story of Shōgun has captivated audiences since James Clavell first released his epic novel more than 40 years ago,” said FX CEO John Landgraf. “The themes of an outsider encountering a new culture are as relevant today as then."
