David Letterman to Jimmy Kimmel: The horse I gave Conan O’Brien was a joke that I expected to be returned

Letterman visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! in Brooklyn Tuesday night, his return to late-night two and a half years after retiring on CBS. Although Dave opted not to go into details of his upcoming Netflix show, he did discuss the gift of a horse that Conan revealed on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show last week. The horse was meant to be a quick joke, Letterman explained, a “gift” that would relieve itself on Conan’s stage and then is returned. “Days later, I realized something had gone terribly wrong," said Letterman. "I got this lovely letter from him saying his wife has decided to keep it because she’s an equestrian." (Watch Letterman's full interview with Kimmel.)
