Dany Garcia recalls approaching Dwayne Johnson about purchasing the XFL

"In May, I called Dwayne and I said, 'We have something really big and very, very important to do. Would you like to do this with me?' And that started it all," says Garcia, Johnson's business manager and ex-wife. Garcia thinks the XFL still has a future, despite being the second spring football league to fail in the past two years. "For me, the XFL is not a spring league, it’s not a junior league," she says. "It’s football—beautiful, fantastic football that allows athletes to express and shoot for something really, really wonderful, shoot for something not only on primetime television but to, in success, either continue to play there or continue to play in other areas. That potential, that’s a magic space."
