Craig muMs Grant, who played Oz's Poet, dies at 52

The actor and poet played Arnold "Poet" Jackson, a heroin addict imprisoned for armed robbery and attempted murder, on all six seasons of the HBO drama. His character, who was paroled only to return after killing a drug dealer, would regularly practice and perform poetry about social and political injustice endured by Black Americans before his fellow inmates. Before Oz, Grant regularly appeared on HBO's Def Poetry Jam. Grant would go on to guest-star on The Sopranos, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Boston Legal and, most recently, Hightown, She's Gotta Have It and High Maintenance.
