Courteney Cox landed her Shining Vale role thanks to Friends co-star Lisa Kudrow

Showrunner Jeff Astrof, who created the Starz horror comedy with Sharon Horgan, is a former Friends writer -- but he didn't think of casting Cox for the lead role. Luckily, Lisa Kudrow had the script and passed it along to her former co-star. "Courteney called me and said, 'This script is the only thing that's ever been written for me,'" says Astrof. "'I want to do it. I have to do it.'"
