The single-camera comedy pilot, created by Ajay Sahgal, stars Sullivan as a divorced father of a 21-year-old daughter who "finds himself seeking the approval of his new fiancée Asha’s sophisticated parents, even as he is a difficult-to-impress father-in-law to his daughter’s longtime boyfriend." The Son in Law is from ABC sibling studio 20th Television, which is also behind This Is Us.
