Chris Cuomo explains on CNN why he can't cover his brother Andrew Cuomo's COVID-19 and sexual harassment scandals

"Let me say something that I’m sure is very obvious to you who watch my show… Obviously I’m aware of what’s going on with my brother," the CNN anchor said of the New York governor, who's facing an independent investigation and growing calls to resign. "And obviously I cannot cover it because he is my brother. Now, of course, CNN has to cover it. They have covered it extensively and they will continue to do so. I have always cared very deeply about these issues and profoundly so. I just wanted to tell you that.” CNN and Cuomo have been criticized for ignoring the New York governor's many controversies in recent weeks, especially since the Cuomo brothers appeared on air together early in the coronavirus crisis last spring. Two weeks ago, CNN explained that it has always banned Chris Cuomo from interviewing his brother, but made an exception to that rule last year because their conversations were of "significant human interest."
