Big Little Lies' casting director named the new head of the film academy

David Rubin has been tapped to become the new president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences after serving as casting director on Big Little Lies, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Little Fires Everywhere and Sharp Objects. Rubin was elected by members of a board that included Big Little Lies star Laura Dern.
