Australian comedian Chris Lilley under fire for apparent blackface in his Lunatics Netflix comedy

In his upcoming comedy Lunatics, Lilley plays six characters, including what looks like a female character inspired by Rachel Dolezal, the white woman who notoriously pretended to be black. Because Lilley darkened his skin for the character, he's facing a blackface backlash. Lunatics producer Laura Walters, however, says that Lilley is "not portraying a woman of color. When the series is released you will see that Jana is a white woman with huge ’70s-style curly hair.”
