ABC announces Castaways, a Lost-meets-Survivor reality show

Premiering on Aug. 7 after Bachelor in Paradise, Castaways will send 12 diverse strangers "torn from their ordinary lives" as they are dropped off on various islets in Indonesia. Like Lost, Castaways will flash back to their real lives back home. "Castaways is a revolutionary series testing the human need for companionship under extreme circumstances as each individual learns there are other castaways out there but are unaware of how many, their locations or when they will be rescued," ABC said in announcing the new series.
