A drama series inspired by former Divorce Court Judge Mablean Ephriam is in the works

Judge Mablean was the first African-American woman to host a nationally televised court show, presiding over Divorce Court from 1999 to 2006. The proposed scripted series will be based on her early career as a former Los Angeles prosecuting attorney, who served as a lead attorney in the city's inaugural Domestic Violence Unit. Executive producer Taj Paxton, Ephriam's daughter, is behind the project. Ephriam currently hosts the syndicated Justice with Judge Mablean.
