Will there be a Robin Hood Season 2? Everything we know so far

As of yet, MGM+ has neither renewed Robin Hood for a second season nor cancelled it. 

The first season's 10 episodes concluded with its finale on December 28, 2025, ending on multiple unresolved cliffhangers that deliberately set up potential future stories.

MGM+ and Amazon have made no official statement on renewal. Co-creator John Glenn told TechRadar:

"There's absolute potential for a second season. We're already working on it. We don't have a second season to order, but we certainly are working, working on it." 

He added:

“But in the meantime, you can expect some definite twists and turns, some major escalation. High romance and big romance."

The series, created by Jonathan English and John Glenn for Lionsgate Television, premiered on November 2, 2025, on MGM+ with a two-episode drop. Jack Patten stars as Rob (Robert of Locksley), a Saxon who becomes Robin Hood, building a rebel band in Sherwood Forest against Norman tyrants.

Lauren McQueen plays Marian, a Norman noblewoman who spies for the outlaws while developing a romance with Rob. Sean Bean is the Sheriff of Nottingham.

This version roots the legend in post-Norman conquest England, incorporating figures like Eleanor of Aquitaine (Connie Nielsen). 

It stresses historical details, class struggles, loyalty and justice. The show topped MGM+ charts in the US and UK, with strong viewer retention, according to FlixPatrol data, and positive reviews for its grounded characters.

Robin Hood season 1: Major events, character developments and cliffhangers

Season 1 charts Robert of Locksley's evolution into Robin Hood. Returning from the Crusades, Rob finds Norman forces oppressing Saxons, including burning his family manor. 

Outlawed, he hides in Sherwood Forest and starts redistributing wealth from tax collectors to the needy.

He forms his Merry Men- burly Little John, devout Friar Tuck, loyal Much and others through trials of strength and trust. Parallel court intrigue follows Lady Marian, daughter of the Earl of Huntingdon. 

Raised Norman but sympathetic to the Saxon plight, she secretly passes intelligence to the outlaws while manoeuvring amid Prince John's ambitions and Eleanor of Aquitaine's influence.

Episodes feature daring robberies, archery contests, forest skirmishes and betrayals. Rob and Marian's forbidden romance grows amid cultural divides. 

Priscilla, tied to the Sheriff, faces personal turmoil. The Sheriff, portrayed with nuance as a law-upholding father, intensifies the hunt.

The finale brings shocking deaths: the Earl of Huntingdon and Guy of Gisborne perish in confrontations. Marian plays a pivotal role in her father's demise.

The outlaws disband temporarily for survival. Priscilla reveals a surprise pregnancy and intends convent seclusion. 

Rob and Marian's bond strains under rising threats. Creators crafted these endings to enable organic growth, scattering the group while heightening stakes for regrouping and broader rebellion. 

Robin Hood season 2: Cast and renewal updates

The main cast includes Jack Patten as Robin Hood/Rob, Lauren McQueen as Marian and Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Lydia Peckham plays Priscilla, Steven Waddington plays the Earl of Huntingdon, and Marcus Fraser plays Little John.

Angus Castle-Doughty plays Friar Tuck, while Henry Rowley plays a supporting role, and others, such as Connie Nielsen, play key parts.

Stars have expressed a strong interest in returning. Jack Patten said he would "love" a second season, highlighting the strong character arcs. Lauren McQueen noted the finale ends "quite interestingly" for everyone and called the cast a "family." 

Showrunners Jonathan English and John Glenn have been actively planning season 2 ideas, teasing "major escalation," higher stakes with new antagonists, bigger romance, twists and storylines like Priscilla's convent life and the outlaws' futures.

MGM+ has supported multi-season shows like From, Billy the Kid and Godfather of Harlem in the past.

A strong performance provides reason for optimism, but decisions ultimately depend on internal metrics, such as viewership versus budget.
