Landman season 2 episode 7 starts with a hilarious scene between Tommy and Angela. Angela tries to surprise Tommy with breakfast in bed, but things go wrong when he accidentally exposes himself in front of the waitress who came in to help. Meanwhile, Cooper and Ariana spend some romantic time together. At the same time, Nathan finds out about Rebecca and Charlie’s workplace romance, which causes some drama in their new relationship and also makes Rebecca worried about her career.

Tommy and Angela argue because of a rude joke Tommy made about her omelet, which makes their car ride very awkward since neither of them talks. Ainsley thinks something is going on between them, but Tommy and Angela make up by the end of the episode. Landman season 2 episode 7 focuses more on personal relationships than on the geologists or the oil business.

Meanwhile, Cooper and Ariana are starting a new chapter in their relationship, as Cooper plans to propose to her in the sweetest, most romantic way his shy personality allows.

Rebecca is left worried when Nathan asks her to sign a conflict form in Landman season 2 episode 7

After Rebecca and Charlie’s romantic moment, Rebecca switches gears to business. She asks M-Tex’s new geologist how likely it is for the company to recover without incurring significant losses. He explains that their plan is very risky because offshore drilling doesn’t guarantee much return, and $400 million is at stake. In the oil business, nothing is certain: there’s a chance of loss even with a guarantee, or a chance of huge profit without one.

Rebecca is worried about taking the risk. M-Tex is in trouble: if they spend $400 million on a bad drilling spot, it will only increase their debt. Charlie says he can try to find a better spot, but he doesn’t want to give false hope. M-Tex believed its gas well off the Louisiana coast had failed due to a hurricane. But Rebecca learns from Charlie, the company’s geologist, that the storm had nothing to do with it. Hurricanes only affect the surface, while the well is 30,000 feet deep.

When Rebecca asks if drilling there again could work, Charlie gives a very honest answer: there’s only about a 10% chance of success. He explains that drilling in unknown spots, called “wildcatting,” is very risky. You never know if the gas pocket collapsed, if you drilled in a small reservoir, or if you’re on the edge of a bigger one. Even if production shows some promise, it’s still a gamble.

He reassures Rebecca that, just like diamonds are expensive because they are rare, oil is valuable because the right spot is difficult to locate.

Later, Rebecca visits Nathan to discuss a better way to assist the company. Nathan suggests involving the insurance company and even bringing a court case, as he suspects Monty built a site on low-gas land to claim insurance money. However, Cami disagreed with this plan in the previous episode, and convincing the board members seems impossible.

Before they can plan further, Nathan finds out that Rebecca is romantically involved with Charlie because she calls him “Charles,” a name no one at work knows. He threatens to report her to the higher-ups.

Worried, Rebecca leaves and sees Angela and Ainsley returning from vacation. She goes straight to Tommy and tells him about her relationship with Charlie. Tommy reassures her that nothing will be held against her, since she is a hardworking employee who works long hours. He even talks to Nathan, saying that if anyone deserves love, it’s her, given how much time she spends working for M-Tex. Tommy focuses on M-Tex competitors instead of criticizing loyal employees, which gives Rebecca relief, even after Nathan made her sign a conflict form.

Angela and Tom sort things out, whereas Cooper proposes Ariana in Landman season 2 episode 7

What begins as a bad mood during the Fort Worth vacation ends with the family driving to drop the girls off at the private jet. Before leaving, Angela shows Tommy the middle finger, clearly still upset about how he ruined the moment earlier.

After that, Tommy and his father Thomas go on a road trip together. The father–son duo gets into some humorous arguments, during which Tommy also learns a few valuable life lessons. Thomas, who earlier didn’t sense anything wrong between Tommy and Angela, finally hears the full story about their fight over the silly omelet issue.

During the drive, Thomas suddenly needs to pee on the side of the road and accidentally ends up peeing near a rattlesnake, which he even threatens to bite. Later, they stop for dinner, where Tommy rushes Thomas to eat quickly, as usual. Thomas explains that he likes to savor his food and tells Tommy that constantly rushing through life can cause him to miss what truly matters. This makes Tommy reflect on his mistakes.

Meanwhile, Cooper goes to bring back Angela and Ainsley. Before leaving, he takes his mother’s generational ring to propose to Ariana. As expected, Ainsley keeps teasing Cooper during the car ride, but he shuts her down by turning up the music. By the end of the episode, Cooper visits a florist, decorates the house with flowers, and sets up a perfect candlelight proposal. Ariana says “yes,” marking the start of a new chapter in their lives.
