Quarterback season 2 marks the return of Netflix's popular NFL-focused series. While the debut season of this series focused on quarterbacks, last year's edition of the show, Receiver, focused on a different position. However, now the focus has returned to the quarterbacks.
Released on July 8, 2025, on Netflix, Quarterback season 2 sheds light on new stories, mic'd-up moments, and behind-the-scenes access into the 2024 season of the three most compelling quarterbacks of the league. The docuseries comprises eight new episodes, which were released together.
Quarterback season 1 featured Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota, while Receiver provided insights into the lives of Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and Amon-Ra St. Brown. This year, Quarterback season 2 sees Cousins return, with Joe Burrow and Jared Goff joining him.
Joseph Zucco serves as the showrunner. Shannon Furman, Tim Rumpff, and Steve Trout have directed Goff, Cousins, and Burrow, respectively.
Born in Iowa, Joe Burrow is the son of retired football player Jim Burrow. He comes from a family of football players. However, while his father, uncles, and brothers played on defense, he became a quarterback.
The Cincinnati Bengals selected Burrow first overall during the 2020 NFL draft. In 2021, he led the Bengals to their first playoff win in over two decades and won the Comeback Player of the Year Award.
Although the Bengals have one of the best offenses in the league, they had a rough start in the 2024 NFL season. They got over .500 late in the season, but failed to make it to the playoffs. Regardless, Burrow's extraordinary performance won him his second Comeback Player of the Year Award.
Born and brought up in California, Jared Goff is the son of Major League Baseball player Jerry Goff. In the 2016 NFL draft, Jared Goff was selected first overall by the Los Angeles Rams. 2017 was a breakout season for him as he led the Rams to their first playoff appearance since 2004. The next year, he led the Rams to Super Bowl LIII.
In 2021, the Rams traded Goff to the Lions. He led the Lions to their first playoff win since 1991 in his third year with Detroit. Over his eight-year NFL career, he has earned Pro Bowl honors four times—twice with the Rams and twice with the Lions.
The 2024 NFL season was the most successful for the Lions as Goff led them to an impressive 15-4 record in the regular season, as well as the NFC North title. Unfortunately, the team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs with a loss to Washington.
Kirk Cousins was born in Illinois and grew up in Michigan. He used to play college football for the Michigan State Spartans before being selected by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL draft. He set several franchise records with the Redskins.
In 2018, Cousins signed a three-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent. During his time with the Vikings, he earned three Pro Bowl selections. In 2024, he switched teams again as he joined the Atlanta Falcons on a four-year deal. Quarterback season 2 will chronicle his first year with the team, including the mid-season benching in favor of rookie Michael Penix Jr.
Quarterback season 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
