The Expanse renewed for a sixth and final season, but original cast member Cas Anvar won't returning following sexual misconduct allegations

The Season 6 renewal comes as the sci-fi series is set to return for Season 5 on Dec. 16. Production on Season 6, with longtime Expanse showrunner Naren Shankar, is expected to kick off on Jan. 20. In June, The Expanse studio Alcon Entertainment launched an investigation into Anvar after numerous women accused him of sexual harassment and sexual assault. The results of the investigation haven't been revealed. In a statement, Shankar said of the final season: "The dedication and artistry of everyone who helps bring The Expanse to the screen is incredible. Our fans are awesome, and we cannot wait to get rolling on Season 6."
