Keri Russell to lead Netflix political thriller The Diplomat

The former star of The Americans is headed back into the world of political intrigue. In the eight-episode The Diplomat, which Netflix ordered in January from West Wing and Homeland vet Debora Cahn, Russell will play Kate Wyler, a career diplomat who lands a high-profile job she’s unsuited for, with tectonic implications for her marriage and her political future. Russell will also serve as an executive producer. This will be Russell's second series since The Americans wrapped in 2018. She also stars in the upcoming climate change-themed Apple TV+ anthology series Extrapolations.
